Travemunde & Scharbeutz

Norbert and I took some time and traveled up to the Baltic Sea Coast (Ostsee) while we were in Germany. The drive up was wonderful and it took us only about an hour to get there. Norbert is a great navigator so he planned our route and I drove. I love the autobahn! :) and the smaller back country roads too... there's some beautiful scenery along the way.

We had a fantastic day in Travemunde and Scharbeutz. We first stopped in at Scharbeutz. We enjoyed a fantastic lunch here and walked along the beach paths and the pier. We then ventured on to Travemunde.

It was lively in Travemunde that day. A large cruise ship was in, so it was very busy with tourists, as well, the town was setting up for their upcoming Travemunde Tage Festival. Some of the old ships were already in and more were on the way, as well as a sand castle competition was underway. We enjoyed strolling along the water front and stopping a cool drink.
